About May

May is the 5th month of the year, between April and June. It has 31 days.

It’s is all about the transition from spring to summer.

Although summer doesn’t officially begin till June 21st, in ancient times Beltane (or the Gaelic May Day), a festival held on May 1st, would mark the start of summer.

This festival is still celebrated across the British Isles by various groups including Pagans.

Fun facts about May:

  • May never begins or ends on the same day of the week as any other month.

  • May's flower is the Lily of the Valley.

  • In the Southern Hemisphere May is equivalent to our November.
